Once again I have to apologize for not leaving any recent posts. Without getting into any details, this has been one of the most difficult times of my life. However, just when things look their bleakest, a ray of sunshine always manages to appear, and I am happy to say that, at least temporarily, things are improving, and so are my spirits. I always find something to make me smile and today I have two posts of smiles for you.
First, look how big baby Nelson is getting! Of course I do not know if this baby is a girl or a boy, but I just decided it is a boy. I didn't want to name him "Bambi" or some other Disney name, so I named him after my late grandfather, Nelson Wise. I think that he would have liked that.
Nelson stopped by today for an afternoon snack.
He was quite hungry, you see, because he had just spent some time swinging -- YES SWINGING -- on Jessie and Allie's swing set next door. I only wish that I had a video camera because it would have been hilarious. He took his little hoofs one by one and and put them on the rubber swing and pushed it to move it up and down. Then, when he got bored doing that, he moved it with his nose. I was not able to get a picture of his hoof actually on the swing with a still photograph, but here he is enjoying himself immensely. By this time next week, he should be going down the sliding board!
Allie and Jessie came home just as I was taking this picture. They thought it was pretty funny. Poor Allie had a boo boo on her elbow. Hope it gets better soon.
The other big surprise in the forest since my last post is that Nelson has 2 cousins. Thus, we have triplets!
So, I was trying to figure out what to name them. I wanted to name them after people who "cracked me up". Well, since I am usually up late at night and I watch Craig Ferguson, who is always silly and rude and makes me laugh -- one of the triplets has to be named Craig. Now that leaves one more to be named, and it has to be a lady -- no all boys club. Hmmmmm. It could be Betty White cause she's like the Energizer Bunny these days -- all over the place. Maybe Dolly Parton since she's always so perky and sweet and blingy.
Well, sorry Betty, sorry Dolly, you are two special ladies but you're just not as qualified to be the namesake of our third twin as a pretty little gal named Sweet Pea that I'm going to tell you about in my next post tonight. Have you ever played tag with the fawns in my backyard in the evening light under the warm glow of the lightening bugs? Have you ever chased after their fluffy white tails only to have them turn around on a dime and find yourself suddenly staring into their huge moon eyes and feeling their big black wet noses against your whiskers? Have you ever heard the alarm snort and seen the "charge" of one of their mothers when she thought that you were getting too "friendly" with her baby? My Sweet Pea did all of those things and more. She is in heaven now.
Every day I think of her. There are some times that I cry when I think of her. One thing is for sure. Every single time I think of her -- SHE MAKES ME SMILE.
What made you smile today? Leave a comment and share it with us. Have a good weekend and be happy.
